Computer Architecture VS Computer Organization

BEHROOZ PARHAMI 저작의 Computer Archtecture라는 책을 인용하면 다음과 같다.

• Computer architecture deals with the functional behavior of a computer system as viewed by a programmer (like the size of a data type – 32 bits to an integer).
- Instruction set, number of bits used for data representation, I/O mechanisms, addressing techniques.

• Computer organization deals with structural relationships that are not visible to the programmer (like clock frequency or the size of the physical memory).
- Control signals, interfaces, memory technology

개인개인적인 소견으로 본다면 Computer Architectue에서 내리는 Design Decision은 그것을 사용하는 프로그래머에게 영향을 미치고, 반대로 Computer Organization에서 내리는 Desing Decision은 프로그래머에게 영향을 미치지 않는다고 할 수 있다. 조금더 생각하면 Computer Architecture가 무엇(What)이라는 것에 중점을 마추는 설계 과정이라면, Computer Organization은 어떻게(How)에 중점을 마춘다고 할 수 있다.
